In order to focus on the launch of the Elephant Heart website, I will be postponing my annual Los Angeles Trunk Show until the new site is active.
If you are in the Los Angeles area, you can get a sneak preview of the Elephant Heart line of jewelry at the Sinai Akiba Academy Holiday Boutique. I have been participating in the boutique for the past two years and with over 100 vendors and 20% of the proceeds going directly to the school, this sale is not to be missed!
Here is all the information:
Sinai Temple–10400 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90024 (on the corner of Wilshire and Beverly Glen)
Audrina Patridge–star of MTV’s The Hills–loves purple and wears it well!
She chose this amethyst Elephant Heart necklace to pair with her strapless bubble dress. This necklace is currently available on the Elyse Jeanne website until the complete Elephant Heart site launches in early 2009.
Part of the fun of designing jewelry is seeing my necklaces, earrings, and bracelets worn and enjoyed by friends and strangers alike.
I make sure to always have a mirror sitting on my studio table so I can check out how each new design looks before I put it into my line. I check to see that each necklace hangs evenly and is at a comfortable length. Earrings are meant to dangle so I hold each pair up to my ears to check that they look as good in the air as they do on my workbench.
In the past four years, I’ve seen my jewelry on a lot of different people with differently shaped faces and bodies, hair and skin colors, and different styles of dress. One of the most important things I’ve realized is that jewelry never looks the same on two different people. Knowing this I am free to design jewelry that may not look the best on me, but would really sparkle on someone else.
As it’s always exciting to see someone in my jewelry, it’s really special when that person is also seen by millions of other people!
In the slide show below, check out Hayden Panettiere, star of the hit TV show Heroes, as she wears some of my jewelry in a shoot for Seventeen Magazine. Hayden enjoyed the jewelry so much that she wore a pair of my earrings to the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences where the cast of Heroes was being honored and also remembered to share one of my necklaces with her mother, Lesley Vogel.
A lot of preparation and last minute touches go into a single image on a fashion shoot.
I worked with model, Shauna, a singer-songwriter in Los Angeles, to to create a look of ease and serenity in a grassy garden. Photographer Bill Aron and his assistant Alexis located the perfect spot for Shauna to sit, where she was mostly shaded with just a glint of afternoon sun glancing her hair.
Once Shauna was seated, Pam came in to do touch ups on Shauna’s hair and make-up. A relaxed and effortless hairstyle is anything but that–each strand was expertly placed by Pam.
Alexis steadied the light and Bill crouched down in the bushes to get just the right angle for the shot.
At the last moment I reached in to adjust the pendant on Shauna’s necklace.
