As a jewelry designer, it is my great joy to be able to make something with my hands that will help make someone else feel special and beautiful. I am even more elated to be able to see Elephant Heart jewelry not only as a piece of adornment, but also as a fund raising source for other organizations.
Throughout the year and especially during the holiday season it is my pleasure and honor to participate in charitable events and silent auctions to raise funds for various organizations–from local Los Angeles schools to national programs for AIDS awareness and education.
This year I was invited to donate a piece of jewelry to an inventive fund raiser for Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This was the first time I participated in an event without actually being there in person, so on this occasion, I was especially eager to hear about the success of the event.
Ann Schriber, who invited me to be a part of the fund raiser, wrote me when she returned home after the event.
“just got home from our fund raiser for Hospice: Dine and Dash. The idea is that names are called and each person then dashes for the piece of art that he or she wants…We had more pieces of art than we had dashers so some of the pieces were not taken, but your necklace was one of the first to go. You really do nice work, and I appreciate so much that you chose to donate something of yours for a fund raiser so far away.”
I was so glad to hear that the necklace was a success! Thank you, Ann, for including me and I look forward to donating again in the future.
