What a magical end to 2011! Thanks to the incredible support of the Elephant Heart customers, we were able to not only meet, but exceed our donation goal for the Bob Woodruff Foundation!
Our final donation tally is $7200!!
On behalf of the entire Elephant Heart team, I want to thank all of our customers who so enthusiastically supported our Elephant Heart Necklace project with the Woodruff Foundation. Together, as a community, we were able to show our gratitude for injured service members and make a huge impact in the support they receive.
Thank you. I am so honored and so humbled by the success of this project.
I hope you are enjoying wearing your necklaces as much as I enjoyed making them for you! Now more than ever they symbolize an open heart and a generous spirit.
Thanksgiving is my most favorite Holiday of the year. We get to take a moment from our busy lives to spend time with family and friends and reflect on the many blessings we have as American citizens. My family has a tradition of going around the table before our meal and sharing a few words about what makes us most thankful. There is always a resounding echo of “I’m thankful for my family and for the health of my family.”
This holiday season we here at Elephant Heart decided to extend that sentiment of gratitude to the service members who have risked their health for the security of our country and who may not be able to sit around the Thanksgiving table with their families this year.
In conjunction with our ongoing project with the Bob Woodruff Foundation–where Elephant Heart is donating 50% of the proceeds from the sale of our Elephant Heart Charm Necklace to further the Woodruff Foundation’s support of injured service members and their families–we asked the students and teachers of 32nd Street School to help us extend our gratitude to those serving our country this holiday season.
Students and teachers alike took time from their busy days to write notes and make drawings on Elephant Heart Greeting Cards expressing their gratitude and warm wishes for all those injured while serving our country.
We packed up all the cards and delivered them to the Woodruff Foundation who will distribute the cards to injured service members in the hospital this Thanksgiving Day.
Please take a moment to look at some of the cards below.
Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving from the Elephant Heart Team!
Today is a very special day. Not only is it 11.11.11 but it is also Veterans Day. Please take a moment today to think of the enormous sacrifices Veterans and all members of the Armed Forces have made on our behalf.
We have already seen incredible support for our project from the Los Angeles Times, People.com, BRIDES.com and many others including Lee Woodruff, co-founder of the Woodruff Foundation and Bob Woodruff’s wife.
“It’s wonderful when individuals channel their talents and passion into an ongoing commitment to do some good and give back. The Elephant Heart Necklace is a beautiful example of this,” said Lee Woodruff, co-founder Bob Woodruff Foundation and author.
The students made these drawings of their vision of “Elephant Heart” for us as a thank you for the projects we did and the art supplies we donated to the school.
These drawings were too amazing not to share, so we created Elephant Heart Greeting Cards. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these cards goes directly to 32nd Street School to buy art supplies and to support arts education. Elephant Heart is proud to announce that we have already been able to give the school over $300 from the sale of these cards!
