Born and bred Angeleno, artist and jewelry designer Elyse Jeanne Graham followed her passion for creating from an early age. While still in high school, the ambitious young artisan desired to further her interest in jewelry design by taking night classes at Otis College of Art and Design.
In 2003, Elyse graduated from Brown University with a degree in Art: Semiotics – a combined concentration of Studio Art and Modern Culture and Media. Elyse spent the following year teaching art classes and exploring North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Whether she’s in the mountains of Appalachia or Eastern Oregon or the sprawl of Los Angeles, Elyse has always made a point of connecting with her community and giving back.
In 2004, Elyse launched her introductory jewelry collection - Elyse Jeanne Jewelry, whose initial success she built upon to create Elephant Heart Jewelry - a synthesis of her creative interests. Her two collections, Classic and Supernatural, are reflections of the dichotomy of her aesthetic sensibility. The former, her refined sense for the delicate and natural and the latter, her gravity toward the outrageous and experimental. Each piece of jewelry is handmade and created by Elyse herself at the Elephant Heart studio in Los Angeles.
Elyse’s continuous commitment to social responsibility is evident in the presentation of each piece of Elephant Heart Jewelry, placed in a finely crafted wooden box with a slide-lid top, making a beautiful keepsake. The boxes are made by the Nezinscot Guild in Turner, Maine, which hires and trains individuals with developmental disabilities-- empowering them to become productive and independent members of the community.
Elephant Heart Jewelry is an amazing combination of unique style and sophisticated design at an incredibly reasonable price point. As a Costume Designer, Elyse Graham has been my secret weapon to adorning fashion icons like Vanessa Williams and Tyra Banks on a budget with them never the wiser.
